Lisa and Emile de Recat are professional photographers specializing in Vanity Fair-style portraits. They work together as a creative team. With more than 20 years of experience in both the film and fashion industries, they bring a certain level of style, elegance and richness to your photos. They’ve been shooting professionally for 20-plus years and just recently opened up their Gig Harbor studio last summer. I had the opportunity to spend the day with them and had an amazing experience. They have this gorgeous, spacious studio on the second floor of the Canterwood Business Center with a beautiful view of the Olympics. It reminded me of a New York loft with polished cement floors and modern furniture, and beautiful artwork and photos adorn the walls.
The big day arrived and I was ready for my shoot. I was greeted with open arms by Lisa ane Emile. Tracie Campbell, their hair and makeup artist, was there to prepare me for my photo session. Tracie is a talented local hair and makeup artist who has been voted Best of Western Washington for the last four years. Needless to say, I knew I was in good hands with Tracie, and the results were amazing. She was also wonderful at putting me at ease.
I never realized how much goes into a photo shoot. With no modeling experience, Lisa made me feel comfortable and beautiful in front of the camera. It was so nice to be directed by a professional who knows how to move you in the most subtle ways to get the best photographs. We also were able to squeeze in some professional shots that were so powerful that I cannot wait to use them for my social branding. After four hours, five wardrobe changes with five different backdrops, we finished our day with a glass of wine and a toast to a successful and fun day.
Two weeks later, my husband and I came back to view the images from the photoshoot. Not only did they have a beautiful slideshow running on their huge TV, but they had about 35 retouched, printed and matted 8x10 photos on a viewing wall to see. I was amazed and pleased with the results. Lisa and Emile sat us down on the couch in front of a beautiful viewing wall with a glass of wine. I just loved my photos and had a hard time choosing my favorites. At no time did Lisa or Emile make either of us feel pressured into a sale while viewing our images. There was no obligation to buy anything unless we wanted to. All I can say is their work is so beautiful that you will want to buy them all.
What I soon realized was these photographs were not only for me and my husband, but priceless heirlooms for my kids and family to have and to pass down. It is so nice to have something special to be remembered by.
When asked what they love most about being photographers, Lisa said it was “the look on the client’s face when they see their photographs for the first time and realize just how beautiful they truly are. It’s very rewarding.”
