The Gift of Hearing

Customer service, incredible care and compassion for their patients are at the forefront of Kitsap Audiology. Owner Amy Becken, doctor of audiology, has been practicing in Bremerton for more than 26 years, having opened her office in January of 1993. She moved to Gig Harbor in 2006, and just recently opened her second location, having purchased Hear for Life Audiology this past month.

“I am humbled and honored that Bill and Marilyn trust me and my team to continue on with their legacy,” says Dr. Amy. “I have always wanted to have a presence in the Gig Harbor community, and this is a perfect fit for my practice and goals to expand our knowledge and expertise to this community.”

At both practices, patients will be treated to a warm and welcoming experience during their visit. Dr. Amy and her team provide all services for hearing health-care needs, designing customized solutions for each and every patient who comes through their door. From complete hearing evaluations and hearing aid evaluations to hearing aid fittings and repairs, Kitsap Audiology provides exceptional care on a personal basis.

Dr. Amy was inspired to pursue her passion of audiology because of her father, who, at just 5 years old, lost his hearing to scarlet fever. “He was a lip reader, so he was able to live in a ‘hearing’ world,” according to Amy. She adds that her father retired from Keyport/Bangor after 34 years of service.

Though both of her parents have passed, Dr. Amy attributes the success of her practice to them. “They were everything to me,” she says.

Whether you’re in need of hearing aids for the first time or rely on customized ear plugs to preserve your hearing, the experienced staff will take the time to listen to your needs and concerns. No hearing issue is too large or small for Kitsap’s audiologists, and they’re eager to show you the path to healthy hearing.

“We are proud to include veteran care,” says Dr. Amy. “My son Zachary is currently serving in Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne, and one of my audiologist’s husband is a ranger at JBLM and will also be deployed this month.” The Kitsap Audiology team is also proud to serve local police officers, firefighters and emergency services personnel. As Amy notes, her other son Alex is currently attending the Police Academy in Helena, Montana, to be a Montana Highway Patrol state trooper.

When it comes to what Dr. Amy and the rest of the Kitsap Audiology team find most rewarding about the work they do, it is “being able to give the gift of hearing back to those who are hearing impaired,” adding, “Patients become our family.”

If you or a loved one is experiencing hearing loss, Dr. Amy and the Kitsap Audiology team are ready to help you with your hearing needs and bring the joy of sound back into your lives.
