Family fun for everyone awaits at this year's Chalk the Harbor. Families, friends, artists and creators of all ages are invited to participate in the annual Chalk the Harbor event, hosted by the Gig Harbor Waterfront Alliance. Chalk the Harbor takes place on Saturday, July 20, from 10am to 3pm on the sidewalks along Harborview Drive in Gig Harbor’s historic waterfront district. Free chalk is provided by the Gig Harbor Waterfront Alliance, though participants are also welcome to bring their own supplies.
After registering for the event, participants may select a location and get to chalking! Registration takes place on the day of the event from 10am to 2pm at two locations, Skansie Brothers Park and Donkey Creek Park.
Completed artwork can be submitted to the Chalk Art Contest. While encouraged to create art with a Maritime Theme depicting images of the harbor, its fishing heritage, or any creative nautical or maritime illustration, this is not a requirement. Certificates of award will be determined for six different categories: Youth (5-9yr), Tween (10-13yr), Teen (14-18yr), Adult (18+), Family/Mixed age and Best Maritime Theme. Upload your completed artwork by 3pm to participate in the competition. Winners will be announced in the following weeks and the certificates of award sent shortly after.
