Dr. Sean Spaulding and Dr. Forrest Hartford, both small-town PNW natives from Allyn an Friday Harbor, WA, respectively, met at the University of Western States while going through the sports chiropractic program. They bonded over their shared goals of patient-centered care, sports medicine, and love of the Northwest. Together, they opened the first PRO SPORT location in Gig Harbor a decade ago, aiming to provide comprehensive, personalized care for their patients. The addition of Dr. Nels Sampatacos, an orthopedic surgeon and University of Washington School of Medicine alumnus, in 2019 further enhanced PRO SPORT’s offerings. Together, they have cultivated an environment that emphasizes the importance of individualized care and customer service in healthcare.
PRO SPORT's Gig Harbor clinic is designed to serve the local community with the same level of care provided to elite athletes. “The desire to help people achieve their highest level of performance, whether that be in sport or life, while focusing on a customer service-based model of healthcare,” says the team, is what inspired them to start this business. The clinic offers a wide range of services, including orthopedic surgery, regenerative medicine, sports chiropractic, physical therapy, athletic training, and massage therapy. This multidisciplinary approach allows seamless communication between providers, ensuring that every aspect of a patient’s recovery is optimized.
One of the key differentiators of PRO SPORT is their commitment to one-on-one care. Unlike many larger clinics, PRO SPORT keeps its volume low, allowing for longer appointment times that enable the providers to truly get to know their patients.
“By offering exclusively one-to-one care with lower volume and longer appointment blocks, we can take the time to get to know our patients, educate them regarding their care, and design a treatment plan that works with their specific needs and goals,” the team explains.
This approach has been a cornerstone of their success and is deeply appreciated by their health-conscious clientele in Gig Harbor.

“Seeing people get back to the activities they love and achieving goals they did not think were possible” is what drives their passion for their work. They attribute much of their success to the motivated and engaged community they serve, noting how involved local residents are with schools, clubs, and other community activities.
In addition to their clinical work, PRO SPORT’s team is deeply involved in the local community. They provide sports medicine coverage for Gig Harbor High School and Olympic Community College athletics, and many of their providers volunteer as coaches for local youth sports and dance clubs. They also offer medical coverage at various races and athletic events, and are active in promoting mental health awareness, having hosted talks at Gig Harbor High School with professional athletes, sports psychologists, and coaches.
PRO SPORT’s dedication to the community extends beyond just treating injuries; they are committed to fostering a culture of health and wellness from a young age.
