Campbell Anderson, Senior
By Rachel Kelly
Campbell Anderson is an 18-year-old senior at Gig Harbor High School (GHHS) and is the youngest of three children. “I'm very close with my family, and that, along with my Christian faith, has really shaped my life and who I am,” says Campbell.
Before 2022, Campbell played soccer and lacrosse for much of her life. But upon experiencing a medical condition that makes competition difficult, she switched her focus to drama. “In drama, I've been an actor, an officer in the club, music director, and I've designed the posters and programs for several of the shows,” Campbell comments. She has played several roles, including Beth in Little Women, Tanya in Mamma Mia!, and the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland. She maintains a 3.78 GPA, is in the National Honor Society, won the AP Scholar award, was nominated for the Student of Distinction award, and has taken five years of Spanish.
English and history are her favorite subjects. Her love for English is inspired by her mother, who is an English major and writer. She loves history for its part in highlighting the past in such a way that illuminates the future, keeping us from making the same mistakes again. With a love for history, her favorite teacher has been Mr. Whitesel, who was her history and AP art history teacher before retirement.
Outside of school, Campbell enjoys her voice lessons, reading, writing, playing piano, leading music at Young Life on occasion, attending church with her family, and traveling. She has traveled to 34 out of 50 states via trailer, as well as to Italy, England and Ireland.
Going forward, her focus and interests align with many of the things she’s already pursuing. She plans to attend George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. She will join their honors program, majoring in English and graphic design. She will pursue writing and design, with the goal of becoming the creative director for an advertising agency to promote meaningful campaigns here in the PNW. Of course, while there at university, she will participate in their theater program.
As you pursue your passions and dreams in confidence, Campbell, we’re excited to see what you’ll do next. Best of luck this fall!
